Authorities are charging Seattle real estate developer Ted Schroth for allegedly trying to kill trees that block views from a large resort he's building in Lake Chelan, Chelan County Deputy Prosecutor Gene Pearce said Friday.
The Wenatchee World reported(subscription required) that Schroth was arrested Wednesday. He is accused of pouring salt around the base of 123 poplars on a property that another Seattle-area real estate developer, Mark McNaugton of Lynnwood, has an interest in. The property that the trees are on, called Whiskey Ranch, is next to Schroth's 63-acre development, The Lookout at Lake Chelan.
