February was an excellent month for those in the real estate MARKET.

According to the latest figures from the Real Estate Board of Greater Vancouver, the number of houses, condos and townhomes that changed hands was up sharply compared to a month earlier, though prices remained stable.

Single detached house sales rose 38.9 per cent, townhouse sales jumped 42 per cent, and apartment sales were up 35.3 per cent.

“It’s an active and competitive marketplace today,” said Ray Harris, president of the board. “Buyers are motivated and homes that are priced competitively are selling at a brisk pace right now.”

Regionally, the real estate MARKET looked rosy, registering as “well above” the region’s 10-year average for the month.

The number of new listings for detached, attached and apartment properties in Metro Vancouver were up 15.4 per cent to 5,425 in February, compared to 4,700 a year ago.
